La Villa Lou Festival Rescheduled for Preston Plaza in Louisville
Louisville just held its first-ever La Villa Lou Festival at Preston Plaza — and the mayor says it was a day to remember. Louisville's first-ever La Villa Lou Festival, a free celebration of Hispanic culture along the Preston Highway corridor, was originally scheduled for October 11 but was postponed due to rain. The festival was set to be held at Preston Plaza and feature music, dance, food and more. The event is part of a city-backed initiative aimed at highlighting Hispanic culture, murals, and businesses along the corridor. The initiative also includes a business-support effort aimed at strengthening the commercial corridor alongside cultural programming. The focus on economic opportunity aligns with the city's own data on its immigrant population, which has an average age of 37 and is disproportionately made up of working-age residents.
