Owensboro airport celebrates new nonstop United Express service
United Express flights from Owensboro to Chicago and Washington, D.C., add larger jets, hub connections and local economic activity. The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport in Kentucky has launched nonstop flights to Chicago and Washington, D.C., marking the arrival of United Express service. The airport launched service to Washington Dulles International Airport on October 13 and began flights to the Chicago O'Hare International Airport in October 25. The routes were operated by SkyWest Airlines on 50-seat regional jets, replacing smaller aircraft previously flown by Contour Airlines. The service is expected to generate local economic activity as the aircraft and crews will be based in Owensboro. Airport Director Tristan Durbin encouraged residents of Owensboro and surrounding communities to check the local airport when planning trips.
