Kentucky blood supply at critically low post-holiday levels - LEO Weekly
Kentucky Blood Center is reporting a critical blood shortage after the holidays, with less than a half day’s supply of O- and A-negative blood and an urgent call for donors statewide. The Kentucky Blood Center is experiencing a significant strain on its blood supply following the holiday season. The organization is urging people with the O-type or A-type type to donate, particularly those with the latter, to help boost the source of lifesaving blood products for more than 70 hospitals. The O-negative supply is crucial as it is often used in emergencies when a patient's blood type is not known. Depending on location and time of donation, blood centers and mobile drives will offer free movie tickets and hoodies in exchange for donations.
