Ex-Brooklawn employees indicted in 7-year-old's death plead not guilty

Two former staff members have pleaded not guilty after they were indicted in the 2022 homicide of a 7-year-old at a residential treatment facility. Three former Brooklawn employees, Deborah Francis, Jillian Parks and Amanda Whitlow, have been indicted in the second degree death of 7-year-old Ja'Ceon Terry at a children's treatment center in Louisville in 2022. The child died of "positional asphyxia," which left him unable to breath. Two workers were fired at the time of Ja'ceon's death, and both defendants pleaded not guilty at a pre-trial hearing. The state removed children from three Brooklown sites in 2022 following Ja'cee's death. All three women have been released on bond and their next court appearance is scheduled for January.
