April is Autism Awareness Month, and the Vaughn family is hoping by sharing their story, they can raise awareness. The Vaughn family is raising awareness for Autism Awareness Month by sharing their journey with autism. Mary Vaughn, the mother of James Vaughn, who has autism, found Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT), a non-profit that offers various programs and activities. FEAT, which also offers camps for the kids, has hosted events throughout the year throughout the month, including a program at All About Kids called 'Get Your FEAT Wet'. Monica Cooper, the community outreach coordinator for FEAT said the organization hopes to give kids a safe space to participate in activities while also giving families a community. You don't know what they're going to love until you get them out," said Cooper.
