Lexington gets $3.7 million for Town Branch Trail extension
Lexington is starting the next phase of a project meant to connect downtown with Masterson Station, the city's largest residential area. Lexington, Kentucky, has received $3.7 million in federal funding to expand the Town Branch Trail. The expansion is part of a long-term effort to connect neighborhoods, parks and downtown Lexington. The project aims to connect Masterson Station to downtown Lexington and the Legacy Trail, which extends towards the Bluegrass countryside. The extension will begin where the trail currently ends, just outside Lexington’s fire training facility. Once completed, the trail will give cyclists and pedestrians another route to downtown and the Distillery District. The city will have a combined 22 miles of trails after the project is completed.
