FTC, 20 states sue Dollar General over alleged deceptive pricing
In a complaint filed Monday, the FTC claims that for years, the business has “mislabeled prices” and overcharged customers. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 20 states are suing Dollar General Corporation for alleged deceptive pricing practices. The FTC alleges that the business has been mislabeling prices and charging customers more at the register than the price displayed on its shelves, price tags and advertisements for years. The complaint also alleges that Dollar General was aware of the problem but failed to address it. The lawsuit alleges that it is in violation of the FTC Act and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which requires companies to explain information-sharing practices with customers. Wisconsin is among 19 other states in the lawsuit.
