The University of Louisville (UofL) has introduced its new head coach, Pat Kelsey, with high expectations for better results. Fans are expecting a new era of the team, following a rough two seasons under Kenny Payne. Some students and lifelong fans believe Kelsey will bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the program, while others are hopeful he'll make an effort to connect with fans while rebuilding the roster. ARE FIRED UP ABOUT TODAY’S ANNOUNCEMENTS. THEY HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS THAT PAT KELSEY WILL REBUILD THE PROGRAM AND BRING THE U OF L MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM BACK TO NOTORIETY. WLKY IS MADELINE CARTER SPENT THE DAY TAKING THE PULSE OF THE FANS TALKING WITH HIM AS WELL. SHE JOINS US LIVE AT THE YUM! CENTER AND MADELINE, WHAT DO THEY WANT TO SEE IN LOUISVILLE’S NEXT HEAD COACH? RICK AND VICKI CARDS FANS WANT A COACH WHO CAN PACK THE YUM! CENTER AND ALSO RESTORE THIS PROGRAM BACK TO GREATNESS. THERE, DEMANDING RESULTS FROM HEAD COACH PAT KELSEY AS HE LEADS THIS TEAM INTO A NEW ERA OF U OF L MEN’S BASKETBALL. NOW, AFTER A ROUGH TWO SEASONS UNDER KENNY PAYNE, FANS I TALKED TO TODAY SAY THE BAR IS LOW SO WE CAN ONLY REALLY GO UP FROM HERE. BUT STILL, THE PRESSURE IS ON FOR KELSEY TO RIGHT THE SHIP AND TURN THINGS AROUND FOR THIS TEAM. U OF L FANS TELL ME THEY WANT A COACH WHO’S DETERMINED, TAKES OWNERSHIP AND ALSO SETS HIGH STANDARDS FOR THE TEAM’S PERFORMANCE. KELSEY WAS HEAD COACH AT THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON FOR THE LAST THREE SEASONS, WINNING 75 GAMES DURING HIS TENURE AND ALSO MAKING IT TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT TWICE. NOW THAT HE’S TAKING OVER FOR THE CARDS, U OF L STUDENTS AND LIFELONG FANS TELL ME THEY’RE EAGER HE’LL GIVE THEM A TEAM AND A COACH TO ROOT FOR NEXT MARCH. MADNESS. I’VE SEEN SOME CLIPS OF HIM. FIERY DUDE. I’M EXCITED TO SEE SOME EMOTION ON THAT SIDELINE. I FELT LIKE IT WAS LACKLUSTER THE PAST COUPLE COUPLE OF YEARS. I JUST WANT HIM TO BE AGGRESSIVE, LIKE COME OUT WITH A NEW EXPECTATION FOR THE TEAM AND KICK THEM INTO GEAR AND EVERYTHING. EVERYBODY LOVES A WINNING TEAM, SO IF WE GET SOME MORE WINS IN THE WIN COLUMN, DEFINITELY GOING TO START FILLING OUT THE YUM! CENTER AND THAT’LL BE GOOD FOR IT FOR SURE. MOST OF LOUISVILLE’S ROSTER HAS ENTERED THE TRANSFER PORTAL, SO KELSEY WILL LIKELY TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF REBUILDING THIS TEAM. ALL EYES WILL CERTAINLY BE ON THE NEW HEAD COACH AS WE WAIT TO SEE IF HE CAN MEASUR
