Man arrested after shooting in the Iroquois neighborhood Wednesday night

Johnny Minton, 35, was arrested early Thursday morning. A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a woman in the Iroquois neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, late Wednesday evening. The woman was shot in the 1300 block of Shingo Avenue and was transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both the woman and Minton, who are both convicted felons, are prohibited from owning firearms. Minton is being charged with assault in the second degree and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He is set to appear in court on Friday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested for allegedly shooting a woman in the Iroquois neighborhood late Wednesday evening.

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, officers responded to a call just before midnight of a reported shooting in the 1300 block of Shingo Avenue.

When they arrived, they found a woman who had been shot.

According to an arrest report, the woman told Minton that someone had left a firearm in the house.

The woman and Minton are both convicted felons and can't have firearms.

Minton went to clear the firearm and it went off and shot the woman, according to the report.

He is being charged with assault in the second degree and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The woman was transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Mitchell.

Minton is set to appear in court on Friday.
