Louisville metropolitan area’s tornado count now at 4 as surveying continues

Jefferson, Nelson, Clark, Henry and Harrison counties all experienced tornado damage. As of Thursday afternoon, four tornadoes touched down in the Louisville metropolitan area, with Nelson County, Kentucky, and Clark County, Indiana, experiencing EF-1 and 120 MPH winds respectively. The total number of tornadoes hit the area is now at four. Outside of the Louisville area, the Kentucky counties of Anderson, Jessamine and Bourbon also saw tornadoes. These areas are still being surveyed and information will be updated.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - As of Thursday afternoon, the total count is at four tornadoes touching down on Tuesday in the Louisville metropolitan area.

Nelson County, Kentucky, had an EF-1 tornado sweep through Tuesday morning in Chaplin.

Jefferson County, Kentucky, and Clark County, Indiana, had a tornado with 120 MPH winds hit the Prospect and Beechland Beach communities, along with Jeffersonville on the other side of the Ohio River Tuesday afternoon/evening.

Henry County, Kentucky, mainly in Jericho, experienced a tornado with 110 MPH winds.

Harrison County, Indiana saw a tornado with 95 MPH winds just northwest of Lanesville.

Outside of the Louisville metropolitan area, the Kentucky counties of Anderson, Jessamine and Bourbon had tornadoes rip through communities.
