JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - Southern Indiana was hit with a tornado and severe weather this week, which resulted in significant damage in the Jeffersonville community.
The National Weather Service confirmed a an EF-1 tornado with 100 MPH winds swept through the city on Tuesday.
There were 8 structures destroyed, 9 sustained major damage, 23 sustained minor damage, and 82 were affected, according to the Jeffersonville Police Department.
Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore said there were no major injuries reported, but 10 people were hurt.
Local, state, and federal resources are working closely with Clark County Emergency Management. Teams are currently distributing essential resources, conducting debris removal, and ensuring the security and safety of affected residents.
