Peny Boone hopes to add to success to Louisville football running back room

Toledo transfer "Baby Bus" is ready to make an impact for the Cards Toledo transfer Peny Boone, nicknamed "Baby Bus," has arrived for Louisville football, aiming to add to the team's successful running back room. Boone, who rushed for over 1800 yards and 18 touchdowns at Toledo, won the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 after two stellar seasons at the school and was named "MacOffensive PLAYER OF THE YEAR" by the MAC. While Louisville running back coach Chris Barclay hopes to open up the playbook even more on offense, the team will still rely on a strong run game and competition. While the running room was a key part of the team’s 10-win season last year, Boone hopes to add value to the strength of the running game. He believes that while there are a lot of young players in the room, he is ready for playing time.

NEWCOMER HOPING TO STEP UP AND STEP IN. HE’S JUST LIKE A RAGING BULL AT TIMES, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? AND I HAVEN’T SEEN THAT LEVEL OF PHYSICALITY IN A WHILE. AFTER TWO STELLAR SEASONS AT TOLEDO, WINNING THE MAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN 2023, PENNY BOONE IS READY TO MAKE HIS MARK IN LOUISVILLE. THE GUYS USUALLY THINK I’M A BIG BACK, YOU KNOW, CAN’T GET NORTH AND SOUTH. SO NOT NORTH AND SOUTH, BUT SIDEWAYS. SO IT’S REALLY, YOU KNOW, PIN AND PULL DIFFERENT STUFF LIKE THAT, DIFFERENT RUNS. SO IT’S JUST BASICALLY JUST, YOU KNOW, SHOWING WHAT I CAN DO. LOUISVILLE’S RUNNING BACK ROOM WAS A KEY PIECE TO THE PUZZLE FOR THE CARDINALS TEN WIN SEASON LAST YEAR. JO ADELL JORDAN AND ISAAC GUERENDO WERE THE ONE TWO PUNCH. BOTH GUYS WILL GET AN OPPORTUNITY IN THE NFL. MAURICE TURNER PROVIDES EXPERIENCE THIS YEAR. U OF L THEN WENT INTO THE TRANSFER PORTAL TO ADD SOME BACKS, INCLUDING BOONE AT SIX FOOT ONE AND 230 POUNDS. NICKNAMED BABY BUS, BOONE RUSHED FOR MORE THAN 1800 YARDS AND 18 TOUCHDOWNS IN TWO SEASONS AT TOLEDO. HE GIVES US AN ELEMENT WHERE YOU CAN. REALLY WEAR SOME PEOPLE DOWN IF YOU REALLY WANT TO, BECAUSE THEY’RE JUST NOT GOING TO WANT TO TACKLE 230 POUNDS OVER AND OVER, UH, FOR FOUR QUARTERS. I THINK HE CAN BE SOMETHING SPECIAL. WE JUST GOT TO POLISH HIM OFF A LITTLE BIT, BUT HE’S DEFINITELY GOT A LOT OF ABILITY. WHILE U OF L HOPES TO OPEN UP THE PLAYBOOK EVEN MORE ON OFFENSE, IT WILL STILL RELY ON A STRONG RUN GAME WITH COMPETITION FOR PLAYING TIME. BOONE SAYS HE’LL BE READY WHEN HIS NUMBER IS CALLED. THERE’S A LOT OF GUYS IN THE ROOM, YOU KNOW, EVEN OUR OUR YOUNG GUYS DOING GOOD. SO YOU KNOW, IT’S A GOOD FIGHT, YOU KNOW? AN
