Texting during court, ignoring orders: KY judge suspended without pay for conduct issues
The Oct. 26 order says Judge Ogden was smirking, laughing, eating or texting during proceedings. Louisiana judge Laura Adams Ogden has been suspended without pay by the state's Judicial Conduct Commission (JCC) for 30 days. The commission found she was guilty of bias, due process violations, failed to follow appellate rulings, and improper courtroom conduct. The JCC cited eight cases that established a pattern of misconduct, including changing custody or restricting parenting time without adequate notice, factual findings or abilities for the parents. Ogden also failed to allow parents to present evidence, cross-examining witnesses or responding to allegations. In addition to her unpaid suspension, Ogden will have to take an educational course before she returns to the bench. Her current term expires in January 2031.
